This past Friday, March 7, 2025, was a great milestone for me, the launch on Steam of Trolls vs Vikings: Reborn, the eighth video game in my career. It is a very special moment for me, as it is also the sixth title that I launch together with my friends at Megapop Games and not only that, it is the modernized version of the first independent development that we made for mobile phones more than 11 years ago and that was played by more than 1.3 million players.
It is also the first time that, in addition to managing communication, marketing, public relations and community, I have been in charge of managing everything related to the launch within the Steam platform. In addition, all this whirlwind has hit me in the middle of the process of changing continents and despite my naive attempt to take a vacation. And this launch is preceded by a first week of free demo at the end of January and a second during our participation in the Steam Next Fest. Thousands of players were able to try out the game and enjoy its classic tower defense mechanics along with all the innovations we introduced over a decade ago.
Releasing a game from an independent studio like Megapop is on another level compared to my previous experiences at Funcom with Age of Conan and The Secret World. There are endless barriers and obstacles, but at the same time it is a thousand times more exciting and offers greater rewards. We are convinced that we have the best version of Trolls vs Vikings possible and that players will have a lot of fun if they give it a chance.
